BlackBerry Bold review

Boy Genius Report has been playing with a Blackberry Bold for the past month and they have now posted their review. Here's what they thought:

"Remember all that talk about overheating and battery drain? It definitely wasn't crap -- we'll tell you that! Even still, the device gets a little warm, but nothing to get too concerned about. RIM has made strides in regards to updated software builds for the Bold. Let's bring you back to when we first got the device, ok? We thanked our very friendly FedEx Sameday delivery man (or delivery person since there's this cute female that sometimes brings us goodies... anyway) and proceeded immediately to remove the SIM card and microSD card from our BGR edition BlackBerry Curve 8310. After that, we took a bat to it, Office Space style. Once the battery was installed in the Bold, we patiently waited for the unit to turn on.".......

at&t

Geardiary got some insider information on AT&T's release plans for the rest of 2008.

The news isn't too exciting for blackberry devices (the Curve 8320 and the Bold in Q3) but for Windows Mobile devices there are a couple of interesting updates coming: the Sansung Blackjack III, the HTC Tilt II, and a new Pantech Duo device.

Check the link below for more specs.

BlackBerry Bold delayed

Boy Genius Report just got confirmation that the Blackberry Bold is delayed until August on AT&T.

Apparently this is due to the previously rumored overheating and battery life issues.

My wife will not be happy as she is waiting for one of these......

iPhone BlackBerry Bold comparison

The iPhone blog has posted a detailed comparison of the new Blackberry Bold and the soon to be replaced iPhone.

There's tons of good photos and a detailed vidoe but at the end of the day for us it comes down to personal choice: do you want a stylish hip iPhone or a more businesslike Blackberry?

We're still waiting for our ideal phone: the slide-out and flip-up keyboard of the TyTn II, the screen and usability of the iPhone, and the patented push email of the Blackberry.

Blackberry maker RIM is the only winner in the latest cellphone sales numbers increasing their market share to 5% and becoming the 5th biggest seller of phones in the US.

Overall sales of cellphones in the US dropped 22% year on year but there was an interesting trend of high-end phones increasing in sales while inexpensive basic phone lost market share: 17% of all phones sold were smartphones, 60% of all phones sold could play music, and 79% of phones had bluetooth (all the better to track you with).

Garmin Navigation on BlackBerry

Garmin has announced that you can get a lifetime Garmin GPS service subscription for your blackberry for $99.

That's the phone's lifetime not yours but it still seems like a good price considering there is no monthly fee and the service offers turn by turn directions, 6 million points of interest, constantly updated maps, gas prices, traffic delay rerouting, weather forcecasts, and more.

Seems like a great service for a crackberry addict who doesn't want a seperate navigation system in their car.

The touchscreen blackberry has the model number 9500 and the codename iPhone Thunder according to Boy Genius Report.

He also reveals that it will have 4 physical keys (send, end, menu, back) and will be a worldwife lifetime exclusive release on Verizon and Vodaphone.

He has a big thing for mocked up images so I thought I would add to his to make the screen more interesting.... maybe this will turn into a photoshop contest?

blackberry 9000 reviewed

You remember the ebay auction for a pre-release blackberry 9000 that we told you about last week?

Well it turns out that the winner of the auction was none other than the owner of crackberry.com, and he has received and started reviewing it.

Part 1 of his review just covers the unboxing and initial impressions along with a comparison to the Blackberry Pearl and Curve.

A full review will follow and we will let you know once that is posted.

blackberry kickstart

Boy Genius Report truly is the guru of all blackberry info releases these days (but as you will see he needs a better camera). As if the blackberry 9000 specs weren't enough he comes back today with the unveiling of a new Blackberry, the kickstart, that has a clamshell flip open design so you can be more like Kirk with his communicator as opposed to McCoy with his tricorder.

Details are scarce but this is what he knows: crackberry suretype keyboard, external and internal lcds, trackball navigation, camera, and it will be out sometime this year.
