OQO Price and Features

oqo handtop

The long delayed OQO handtop PC may finally be about to be released. Rumors abound that it will be released in early October at a price of $1899.

The OQO runs windows XP but it a lot more like a mini tablet pc.

The OQO is tiny, 4.9" x 3.4" x 0.9", and weighs 14oz, but manages to pack in a 1GHz transmeta processor, a 20gb hard drive, 256mb RAM, a 800 x 480 pixel 5" lcd screen, QWERTY thumb keyboard, 802.11b and bluetooth wireless.

One downside to the long development cycle is that some of the specs are no longer as impressive as when the OQO was first announced. For the high price of the OQO I would like to have seen 1 40gb or 60gb hard drive, 512mb RAM, USB 2, 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, and a faster Transmeta efficeon processor. I also don't like the low 3hr battery life, for the sake of a few extra ounces we could have got a much better battery life.
