Olympus have announced a new digital SLR camera at the Photokina trade show.
The Olympus E300 is an 8 megapixel digital camera with a 17.3mm x 13mm sensor, and it is the third digital SLT offered by Olympus that uses their FourThirds technology.
Other features include lots of manual controls, CompactFlash storage card, pop-up flash, 1.8" LCD, and 1500mAh battery. The Olympus E300 comes as a kit with a new 14-45mm Zuiko Digital lens (equivalent to 28-90mm on a 35mm film camera).
The Olympus E300 is 5.8" x 3.4" x 2.5" and weighs 1.3lb without the lens.
Pricing has not yet been announced.

Hopefully and finally a camera for us Old time Olympus fans. I have both a very early production OM-1 and a OM-2s that I still use and haven't made the jump to a digital SLR yet... Just as the OM-1 began the evolution to a smaller and lighter SLR, I think that the E-800 just may create the same revolution. I just hope that I'm not priced out of the market!
