DIY Solid State Drive

Over the next few years we hope hard drives go the way of the dodo and get replaced in all our PCs with solid state drives (SSDs) which offer the advantages of faster startup, near instantaneous access, no noise, low power requirements, and more reliability.

The downside is that large SSDs are very expensive: up to 100 times the price of a comparably sized hard drive.

Prices are gradually coming down but in the meantime century has come out with a gadget that lets you create a DIY SSD using 3 compactflash card at a fraction of the price of a true SSD.

The DIY card will be available shortly at geekstuff4u.
